SOUTH Yorkshire property developer Sky-House Co has received Buildoffsite Property Assurance scheme accreditation.

BOPAS is a risk based evaluation which demonstrates to funders, lenders, valuers and purchasers that homes built from non-traditional methods and materials will stand the test of time for at least 60 years, demonstrating that the construction system is fit for purpose and removing the uncertainty of the construction for valuation purposes.

It also removes the risk of mortgages for developers being declined and improves the business and technical risks to manufacturers of the construction system.

“This is a major step forward for Sky-House as we continue to expand develop new styles of housing specifically designed to meet the demands of 21st century living,” said Sky-House Co co-founder David Cross.

“It means we can develop new modular and semi-modular homes as we push to become even more eco-friendly both during and after construction.

“Using modular construction techniques means we will be able to do more construction offsite, creating homes that are more airtight and, therefore, better suited to contemporary needs.

“Our construction techniques are now carbon zero and we are actively offsetting our carbon footprint on every project.

“All our new homes are also zero gas well in advance of the government’s 2025 schedule.

“They also include EV charging points for vehicles, photovoltaic panels that convert sunlight into electricity and air source heat pumps, rated one of the most efficient appliances on the market to heat the home.

“Altogether, we believe this makes Sky-House Co one of the most eco-friendly building companies in the country.”

Sky-House Co’s development at the former British Tissues site in Oughtibridge is now nearing completion, along with seven three-bedroom Sky-House properties at Fox Valley in Stocksbridge.

Work has now also begin on the second phase of the company’s acclaimed Waverley development between Sheffield and Rotherham, while a major new scheme at Devonshire Green in Sheffield city centre is expected to start later this year.
