CSM Italy provides the highest quality and professional integrated management services by adding value through our commitment to be world-class ship managers

Columbia Shipmanagement (CSM) has a unique set-up enabling us to provide flexible packages of modular management and maritime services, fully customisable and tailor-made for each client. Our turnkey solutions guarantee cost-optimised operations and benefits from economies of scale.

Italy has a well-established shipping industry, so it was a natural step for CSM to found a local presence to support existing clients and welcome new ones. Local representation in Italy means we are able to maintain high standards of support on a local scale more effectively and efficiently.

With more than 450 ships under management, our focus is maintaining vessels to the highest standards. Our Performance Optimisation Control Room (POCR) provides the highest rate of optimisation and efficiency for vessels and shore operations. We have supervised the construction of more than 280 vessels at leading shipyards so clients benefit from CSM’s vast experience with new building projects and in-house knowledge regarding implementation of new technical, commercial and fuel efficiency designs.

CSM Italy provides the highest quality and professional integrated management services by adding value through our commitment to be world-class ship managers. CSM Italy offers the full range of management and maritime services provided by the CSM Group to the entire Italian market.

In order to enhance our services, Columbia combined its various business lines and brands in the super yacht and cruise sectors under one holding entity: COLUMBIA blue. This group offers a diverse portfolio of services within the leisure, lifestyle, cruise, super yacht, aviation and hospitality industries.

The quality of the service we provide is our biggest differentiator. Columbia is driven by offering competitive solutions, while simultaneously never losing sight of the life-altering job we do in connecting nations, families and businesses. Our goal is to provide unparalleled service to our clients to ensure the livelihoods of all staff, seafarers and stakeholders depending on us.

In order to secure the lowest consumables prices available, CSM and Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement founded independent procurement company GenPro. It consolidates the purchasing activities of over 1000 vessels. The scope and reach of this procurement endeavour will ultimately include all products and consumables associated with the operation of maritime businesses onshore and offshore.

We recognise the need for a more modern, realistic approach to achieve scalability in ship management. The fact that the CSM Italy office is smaller and more customer-focused means we can deliver the personal service that a boutique style operation would be able to offer, while maintaining the benefits of a large company like the Columbia Group.

Columbia also collaborates with partner companies to provide a wide range of additional services. Top Glory Marine Service (TGM) serves ship managers and ship owners participating in global trade with seagoing vessels of all kinds and ensures those services are provided sustainably. It develops customized offload strategies for customers’ fleet by preparing a waste management plan in accordance with the ship’s schedule for all waste streams generated on board.

To provide qualified seafarers, CSM maintains crewing offices and training centers at over 15 locations worldwide. Sharing the same cultural background with seafarers at local offices, we benefit from high retention rates. Our partnership with Adobe and OneLearn, and the creation of our industry-leading E-Learning and internet-based Learning Management System, is the envy of our competitors and the greatest tool for our people.

Columbia aims to change the conversation on seafarer’s mental health by becoming the first shipping company offering crew and staff psychological support. CSM collaborates with Mental Health Support Services to provide confidential one-on-one support 24/7, 365 days a year.

As a company, we are intimately connected to consumer habits and changes in the world’s supply chain. Over the last few years, our business has become increasingly concerned with making operations as efficient, and environmentally and socially responsible as possible. Through collaboration and ‘bridging the divide’ across industry stakeholders, we can find comprehensive and holistic integrated maritime service solutions.

Always aiming to improve and adapt, our goal is to become the greatest organisation possible for our clients, partners, crew and staff.
