A British Columbia realtor has been suspended after a client’s camera caught him drinking milk from her refrigerator straight out of the jug.

Following a showing held by real estate agent Mike Rose, Kamloops, BC resident Lyska Fullerton was met with an unexpected surprise when checking the footage from the Ring camera set up in her living room. The footage, shared by Fullerton on social media, shows Rose opening her fridge, grabbing the milk, and drinking it straight from the container. He then puts it back and closes the fridge before opening it again for one more look.

Fullerton says she also has footage of Rose, who was not the listing agent on the property but rather was showing the home to potential buyers, sitting on the arm of her couch and breaking it.

“So tell me what you would do? Real Estate agent Mike Rose of Kamloops (not listing agent) comes to show your home. He breaks your couch by sitting on the arm of it, but here is the shocker! He drinks milk straight out of the container, puts it back then looks for something else to consume,” Fullerton wrote in a Facebook post. “If your home was shown by this guy and you have cameras maybe you should check them.”

Rose’s brokerage Royal LePage Kamloops made a statement to CFJC Today confirming that they are aware of the situation and that Rose has been suspended pending further investigation.

“We are not at liberty to discuss anything further until the investigation into the details surrounding this situation have been completed,” the statement reads.

Rose also made a statement to CFJC Today acknowledging his wrongdoing as an out-of-character incident, and stating that he has since apologized directly to the homeowners.

“I would publicly like to offer a most sincere apology for my actions,” Rose said. “On Saturday, July 16, 2022, I was showing a house to my clients, and I made the very unfortunate, and very uncharacteristic, decision to drink milk from a container from the homeowners’ fridge. I have never done this kind of thing before, nor will I ever behave in this way again. I acted in a way that is unbecoming of my brokerage firm and my fellow REALTORS®. I broke the trust of the homeowners whose house I was showing.

“Although I have apologized directly to the homeowners, I know that actions like this are not quickly forgiven nor easily forgotten. I will be spending the next few weeks considering my actions, better understanding why I would do this, and work to ensure this kind of behaviour never occurs again.”

Fullerton has since lodged a formal complaint with the Association of Interior Realtors and noted that both Royal LePage Kamloops and her listing agent have been supportive throughout the ordeal.
